Weekly update

  • GSB wants your input on the Chapel in the MU.
    • Tonight – Tuesday 5:30pm in the West Student Office Space of the MU – the University Affairs committee with discuss the Chapel.
    • Wednesday 7pm in the Campanille Room of the MU – GSB meeting will discuss the Chapel
    • ASAP – send your comments on the Chapel to your senators (find their addresses at the GSB website: http://www.gsb.iastate.edu/senate/people.php) and to GSB University Affairs Committee leader Luke Rolling at lroling@iastate.edu.
    • Currently, they have only received one response about the chapel – from Luke Harvey, a member of AAS. See the AAS blog for his response: http://wp.me/pshS2-cf. Contact Luke at lharv@iastate.edu for more info.
  • AAS meeting – Coming Out Atheist – Thursday 7pm Gold Room of the MU.
    • Join us to tell your coming out story and/or your deconversion story. Help others who haven’t yet come out by adding your story to our online video collection. Can’t make it to the meeting? Tell your story on Friday from 11am to 4pm in the MU Gold Room before or after heading to Ask an Atheist.
    • AAS Speaker’s Bureau. We will vote for people to represent us as speakers for other clubs and church groups. Want to be a speaker but can’t make it? Email isuaas@gmail.com with a short statement that we’ll read aloud before voting.
    • AAS Logo. Some ideas for logos are posted at the AAS blog: https://atheistandagnostic.wordpress.com/2009/10/10/logo/. Vote for your favorite logo idea or add comments with additional ideas. We’ll discuss the top choices and make a final decision.
  • Ask an Atheist Booth – Friday 11am-1pm UDCC Commons. Don’t forget to stop by the MU Gold Room 11am-4pm to tell your Coming Out Atheist story.
  • Reggie’s Sleepout – Saturday 5pm to Sunday 5am. See the AAS Reggie’s Sleepout page for details on how to donate and how to join our team: https://atheistandagnostic.wordpress.com/reggies-sleepout/. If you’re on the team, you’ll get an email soon about carpooling to the event. Please ask family and friends for donations and collect cardboard boxes, even if you can’t come to the event!
  • Sunday Brunch – Sunday 11am in the Harvest Room of Season’s Marketplace.
  • AAS’s 10th Anniversary celebration!
    • Clear your schedule. As part of our 10th Anniversary celebration, Dr. Avalos will present “The AAS at Ten: Celebrating a Decade” at our meeting on Nov 5th.
    • Important! Nov 1-13 we will have a display cabinet at the Memorial Union. Please email isuaas@gmail.com if you would like to help design the AAS Memorial Union display.
    • Important! Nov 13 is the Superstition Bash, a huge party held by AAS. Please email isuaas@gmail.com if you would like to help create a superstition station. RSVP for the bash on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=151173439914.
  • Brews and Views is a new interfaith discussion group at ISU. To learn more, check out the Facebook Fan Page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ames-IA/Brews-and-Views/155301809498. It’s a great way to show people that atheists are nice people and to gain some understanding of people of faith. Thanks to those who attended yesterday!
